Tenants’ rights
Off-campus housing disputes are our most common practice area. We have a strong reputation for aiding students by holding landlords accountable. Common reasons students come to our office include:

SLS commonly assists students who have been charged with misdemeanors and low-level felonies:

Expungement
Iowa has limited expungement laws, but SLS can assist students in expunging PAULA and public intoxication charges, select other misdemeanors, and cases in which all other charges were dismissed or you were found not guilty.
Traffic tickets and other DOT/DMV issues
If you have received a traffic citation or if your driver’s license is in jeopardy, come to SLS. We can help you consider your options.
Divorce
Many students seek our help during periods of instability in their marriage. If you are considering divorce or if a divorce is already pending, SLS can provide assistance.
